Sihol Aritonang is the Head of Tanoto Foundation in Indonesia, a philanthropic organization founded by Sukanto Tanoto and Tinah Bingei Tanoto with the purpose of taking part in improving lives through education. The main pillars of the program include early childhood education and development, basic education, and leadership development.
A strong believer that improving lives means giving the best support for individuals and communities at the most important stages of their education, Sihol ensures that the Foundation designs and implements quality programs, works with the right partners, and measures impacts.
Before joining Tanoto Foundation in 2009, he was the Assistant Country Director at CARE International (Indonesia), an international humanitarian and development NGO. Prior to that, before entering the development and philanthropy sector, Sihol had worked for over 10 years in the capital market and financial service sectors in Indonesia. His passion in education has led him to serve as a lecturer at the Universitas Indonesia for more than 25 years.
Mr. Aritonang received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Hawaii in 1994 and his Bachelor Degree in Economics from Universitas Indonesia, Jakarta, in 1991.
