Robert is Managing Director of Impact Investment Exchange Asia (IIX), an organization dedicated to matching impact investment capital with enterprises creating positive social and environmental impact.

Based in Singapore, IIX has been a pioneer in promoting impact investment in Asia. Robert is currently leading IIX’s efforts to launch a $50m impact investment fund – the IIX Growth Fund – to invest in impact enterprises in underserved markets of South and Southeast Asia. Robert is also a member of the board of IIX Foundation, a non-profit with a mission to strengthen, deepen and expand the impact that impact enterprises create in poor and vulnerable communities.

Before joining the impact investing movement, Robert spent nearly 20 years in the traditional capital markets as an advisor and investor, most recently as head of Asian private equity for Marathon Asset Management, a US$12 billion alternative investment manager. Before that, Robert was head of investment banking, Asia ex-Japan, for Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. Robert began his career at Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse.

In addition to his work at IIX and IIX Foundation, Robert is Senior Advisor to Asian Tiger Capital, an innovative financial services firm in Bangladesh offering research, advisory and asset management services. Robert is co-author of the chapter on “Social and Environmental Exchanges” in New Frontiers of Philanthropy, recently published by Oxford University Press. Robert is a member of the advisory group for the Navigating Impact Investment Project, and has acted as a judge for various social enterprise business plan competitions, including the Global Social Venture Competition in Berkeley, California and the Asia Forum for Clean Energy Financing. Robert has lived in Singapore since 2004 and has served as a member of President’s Challenge Social Enterprise Awards Committee.
